How to Represent The Usage of Certain Powers

How to Represent The Usage of Certain Powers

Postby Rebecca » Thu Nov 20, 2014 12:53 pm

We understand that it's not always easy to walk around all night with your arms crossed across your chest to indicate Obfuscate or Astral Projection etc... Therefore we are implementing the following:

Orange Arm Band -- Obfuscate
Pink Arm Band -- Astral Projection

Please provide your own arm band as the ST team will not have any on hand

This is a very good plan.

Would armbands or sashes for other abilities be a good idea as well? People with Psychic Projection, Horrid Form, Beast Form, or who happen to be very, very dead at the time (Wraiths) might also benefit from not being stuck in one position all night.

Could we have a special colour, or symbol reserved for those who only make their presence known to Auspex: 5 users (Those with Obfuscate: 4+) and a special colour for those who do not make their presence known at all (Using the Nosferatu merit), so we don't break character when we accidentally notice a kindred we wouldn't have?

P.S. Astrally Projected characters are immediately noticeable by Auspex users too...

In theory I like the idea of having different colours, but I think it just might complicate/confuse things.
If you have a high enough Obfuscate that people need Auspex 5 to see you, you should know to ask what level they have when they try to test you on it, so I don't see that as being a big deal.
Let's start with this for now, and see how it goes.

Just to preempt any other colours, for those of us who are colourblind can you please not use red or green now that you've introduced orange? Or show me the colours at game to see if I can tell them apart?

Thanks :)

So to be unseen by storm all one would need to do is paint them selves red or green. Excellent this is most valuable information!

I know you're being cheeky, but actually red/green colorblindness is the most common colourblindness. It is more common with men than with women (As it is linked to the X chromosome and men only have one whereas women have two). It makes it difficult for a red/green colour-blind individual to tell the difference between red and green. (Storm would still be able to see you though :P :P :P)

Click on this image. If you can't see the number "74" in the circle, then you are very likely red/green colour blind: http://i.imgur.com/R7ANpdU.png

Since red/green color blindness is so common (One number i saw was 8% of men and 0.5% of women) -- its important when deciding on colours to use for a presentation, a figure/graph, advertising, etc. to not use the colours red and green together if possible.

Four quick things:

1. I took no offence at the cheeky comment, just in case anyone thought so.
2. I clicked the link. LIES!!! The number is 21! (Seriously that's what I see lmao)
3. Bizarrely enough I saw the Hi Storm comment. My eyes are weird.
4. For my particular colour blindless I also see almost every colour except blue and yellow as a few shades darker than a normal person. The world for me is, quite literally a darker place. These two colours are almost cartoon like for me, they are so bright compared to the rest. :P

Speaking as someone whose colorblindness is classified as "anomalous", 1 in every 200000 colorblind persons, I HATE color coding anything.

Mord, sure. Dave, no. :P

The blue is easy, the red on black gets fuzzy for me.

You could switch to the different style if that helps any.

I'm not colour-blind per se, but I do have some colour deficiencies. I guess I would have tritanomaly anomalous trichromacy. The default forum pages are practically impossible for me to read with the red on black colour scheme. I immediately switched to the blue one.

When playing laser tag, I absolutely have to be on the blue team, because in the dark the blue stands out the most for me and I can't quickly distinguish between the other colours. So anyone not blue, i shoot.

If the blue stands out the most, join the other team and shoot anyone that stands out!

No, because that doesn't make sense if there are more than two teams. If I'm on the red team, sure I can easily distinguish the blue team, but not so much between the red and green teams. Likewise if I'm on the green team. Being on the blue team means I can shoot anyone that isn't blue.
